Gorilla Glue on Skin – Is It Harmful?

Glue like gorilla glue has vastly improved over the years. With the improvement has come a better product which works better in its bonding capability and also and more importantly it drying time. This glue dries very quickly and this makes it very difficult and most likely painful if you attempt to pull the glue off your skin.

If you notice you have gorilla glue on your skin it is highly suggested you remove it as soon as you can, when it is in its liquid form. This is the best solution to remove, however, below are other solutions if you have discovered the gorilla glue is on your skin and partially dried or completely dried.

How Do You Remove Gorilla Glue From Your Skin

How to get gorilla glue off skin? As mentioned above the optimized scenario is to remove the gorilla glue when it is fresh and in its liquid state. But as you work on your projects time does seem to go by quickly and it has time to dry. Let’s look at a few methods on how to remove gorilla glue from your skin.

Remove Gorilla Glue From Your Skin if Wet or Tacky

If the gorilla glue is still wet or tacky (Optimal Situation) you will need to remove it as soon as possible.

  • If you have paper towels or preferrably a clean cloth close by, wipe away as much of the soft gorilla glue from your skin
  • Get some warm soapy water and remove the leftover residual gorilla glue. Any type of soap can be used, however a liquid soap is recommended.
  • If you still have some gorilla glue left it is recommended you use an exfoliate to remove. This can be salt which will assist in getting the remaining glue left over.
  • Ensure you always use a moisturizer or oil on your skin when you finish. This will add your skin from the process and not dryout the skin affected.

Remove Gorilla Glue From Your Skin if Dried

As mentioned above gorilla glue dries extremely fast, it is one of the things about the product we want to mend or repair objects. But as we work on our projects or repairs we don’t pay attention to the time as it goes by, so whether the gorilla glue fell on your skin and you noticed it or not, you may not have the brief second or two to remove it.

So, if the gorilla glue has dried on your skin, there are several methods you can use to remove it.

The Scrubbing Method

Our natural instinct is to scrub the gorilla glue off. However, just scrubbing will not remove the dried glue from your skin. You need an aid to help you remove.

If you want to use the salt as an aid, you can wash your skin with salt included in the warm soap water. However, if you have sensitive skin you may want another method.

Items Needed:
Here is the Step-By-Step process:
  • Apply baby oil to the area of the skin which has the dried gorilla glue
  • Gently rub in a circular motion – (You will notice the glue starting to break up)
  • Take the pumic stone and scrub the area of the skin taking great care not to scrub to hard which will affect the skin
  • The gorilla glue will start to flake and come off of the skin
  • Once all of the glue has been removed, wash your skin with the liquid soap

The Citrus Method

Many people don’t know the power of citrus in breaking down glue. If you have any type of citrus fruits around the house, they can be very helpful in removing gorilla glue. The benefit to this method is it is safe and doesn’t use any harmful chemicals which you don’t want to use on your skin.

Tip: Ensure you don’t have any abrasions or cuts where you will apply the citrus juice. This may cause a stinging effect. If you have concerns please contact your doctor for advice prior to use.

Items Needed:
  • Kitchen Knife
  • Citrus Fruit (Lemon, Orange, etc.,)
  • Liquid Soap
Here is the Step-By-Step process:
  • Cut the fruit in half
  • Get a bowl and squeeze fruit into the bowl

  • Repeat as needed
  • When you see the glue has completely broken down wash with warm soap and water

Tip: If your skin is stinging run cold water over to soothe

The Acetone Method

Acetone, also known as nail polish remover is a colorless chemical compound and is very effective in breaking down and removing Gorilla Glue from your skin. However, you need to great care as the acetone will dry your skin out.
