How Do You Remove Tree Sap From A Car Without Damaging Paint?
It doesn’t matter what type of tree the sap comes from it can be frustrating and damaging to your paint as well. The longer you let it stay on the paint the worse it gets. Let’s see what you need to do to remove tree sap off your car without damaging your paint. Below are methods you can use.
Start With A Basic Car Wash
So before we get into a lot of methods and information a basic car wash is the best step to start with. It will take most of the tree sap away along with dirt and any tree debris such as leaves and small twigs which may be in the windshield tray or other nooks on the car.
You don’t need to use anything special other than basic soap and water or a quick run through the local car wash to remove most if not all of the tree sap. It is better to get your car washed as soon as you notice the tree sap because the sooner you remove the tree sap the easier it is to remove.
The Tree Sap On The Car Has Been Baked In The Sun
Materials
- Torque Detail Ceramic Wash
- Clay Bar & Lubber Synthetic Lubricant Kit
- Soft, High-Quality microfiber towels
- Torque Detail Mirror Shine (Optional, highly recommended as a final touch and future protection)
- Isopropyl Alcohol (Optional. Last resort for stubborn tree sap.)
What You Should Not Do Or Use
When you wash your car you will be tempted to get the jet sparyer close to the paint to get the stubborn tree sap off. The closer the jet sprayer to the paint the more you run the risk of peeling your paint from your car. It is better to use a sponge or the brush at the car wash to wipe on the car with soap and not use the jet sprayer.
Also, be careful of tar remover. It is great for removing tar from your car paint finish but not always tree sap. Please note using liberal amounts of tar remover will remove the protections on your car paint, such as your wax or even the clear coat on the paint in extreme cases.
